In your experience, what are the three best features that make Workday different from most other HRIS platform in the market?

Workday’s most exciting experience is that – it is so very easy to use.  The user interface is intuitive and one can easily navigate to what they are looking for. Every worker in an organization can personalize their Workday page which makes it fascinating for an individual to use.

Users who are often accustomed to searching for results in sites like Amazon or Facebook will not be disappointed by Workday’s efficient search feature. The Smart Search technique with the usage of Prefixes is an advantage for experienced Workday users and the Partial Search technique is a value provided for beginners.

While email alerts from our mailbox notify us to perform a certain action, a consolidated list of items that’s pending for action can be seen using Workday’s Inbox feature. Workday’s Inbox is a one-stop shop that separates items from Actions & Archive.  The Action tab is an activity stream that displays tasks, approvals, and to-do that require an action. Archive tab displays historical information for a certain period. The filter option, sorting capabilities and bulk approval option are add-ons within the Inbox feature.

How do you think Workday guarantees superior user experience?

Let me answer this by probably pointing out a feature that I would say, creates a “Wow” experience for the user – the “Power of Objects” user experience. This feature allows a user to take a deep dive into the product until one finds what they are looking for. Workday has delivered this very authentic interest in user experience for users who may not be just interested in a specific transaction. Whatever we see in Workday – Related Actions enable us to perform an action on it, thoughtfully designed without having to navigate any further.

How does Workday integrate with the other finance and HR systems?

Integrations are an integral part of any enterprise application. Workday’s Integration Cloud Platform can be used for building, deploying and managing integrations to and from Workday. The need for an on-premise middleware is completely eliminated in Workday’s integration platform. Workday offers packaged integrations for Benefits, Payroll, HCM, Financials and Spend, thereby enabling IT developers to build, configure, test and deploy integrations.

Workday Web Services API allows for programmatic access to Workday business services and data. It enables IT, professionals, to create ‘do it yourself’ extensions and integrations. The API provides the framework for all Workday I/O.

Custom Integrations can be built using the appropriate mix of tools like EIB (Enterprise Interface Builder), Workday Reports and Workday Studio. Custom integrations usually tend to be complex and require periodic maintenance.

Could you please share some insights on analytics or reports that one can benefit from using Workday?

In today’s world, there is no dearth of data being available, however, what we evidently lack is the use of data being transformed into information that can be used for critical business decisions. Seldom, does this data help decision-maker.  Workday has designed its products to give more visibility into recruiting, workforce and more.

Workday offers quite a variety of standard reports across products. For instance, recruitment reports help Identify sourcing money well spent, manage candidates, manage requisitions, manage recruiter workload, aid in real-time decision making and staying compliant. Customers can leverage the Workday delivered reports for effective prioritization of business initiatives, best practices, and resource allocation.

Workday’s Recruiting Dashboard provides a centralized place where recruiters can consume report details and take actions thereby limiting the clicks for high volume recruiters. The dashboard is configurable enabling customers to expose tasks and reports that make the most sense to them.

Workday’s built-in analytics help customers gain more insight into their data which help business leaders take immediate action –  optimal results are achieved using contextual data. Embedded analytics provides supplemental information to a business process. Information provided on the same screen empowers the user to make better-informed decisions.

Workday’s Reports and Analytics help customers in many ways to provide decision-makers with swift and effective access to data that will help them drive their organizations to broader horizons.

As per your POV, what are the key developments to watch out in Workday in the next 5 years? And, what would be the major headlines in Workday to look forward to in 2018?

Workday has unveiled Workday Prism Analytics for better business decisions. Workday Prism Analytics allows customers to integrate and analyze Workday data and non-Workday data from multiple sources so the user can visualize and analyze critical business information from various dimensions. The key features of Workday Prism Analytics are data acquisition, self-service data preparation, data management, data governance, report publishing and data discovery. Workday will launch an advanced version of Workday Prism Analytics in 2018 with API’s for Data Acquisition, Field and Cell-level Run-Time Security etc., The need to export data into a separate data warehouse and BI (business intelligence) application is thereby completely eliminated. This makes analysis faster, easier, more secure and performed in a location where users can act on it.

Workday has delivered a suite of new features in Workday HCM that equip customers with more flexibility to meet their performance management needs.
